The legacy media has been wrong about everything.
COVID origins.
Kamala Harris.
The economy.
The border.
Women’s rights.
The general mood of the American electorate.
Every. Thing.
A month into this new administration (gee whiz, has it really only been a month?), the entire American cultural landscape has shifted. Last November 5th, almost overnight America saw a sea-change, both politically and spiritually. Those of us on the right were vindicated after years of battling lockdowns, censorship and weaponized government. Those on the left were confused.
Their legacy media idols had been assuring them for months that Kamala Harris was on a winning path; that her campaign was full of JOY and ENERGY. She was supposed to win. They told everyone she was winning. They told everyone Trump’s campaign was hemorrhaging voters, shrinking rallies and floundering in the final days.
None of it was true and the left-wing voters had their hearts broken into a million pieces, as evidenced by the explosion of weepy, angry, blue-hair TikToks flying around the next day.
It felt like the beginning of the end for the legacy media. The masks were off. They didn’t just get it wrong, they took WRONG to the jewelry store, bought it a ring, had a wedding, and took on WRONG as their new last name. They really couldn’t have gotten any of it more wrong, and the American media consumer has been punishing them accordingly ever since.
Perhaps the worst WRONG of all was actually a lie…the lie that Joe Biden was not exhibiting severe mental decline while in office. After that one-and-only presidential debate between Biden and Trump, there were no more lies that could be told. It was obvious to everyone, so much so that even the media couldn’t ignore it or pass it off as a “cheap fake.” It was a presidential debate, so they couldn’t squash the footage. Nearly the entire American voting public was privy to the disaster. The rest is history.
Except for CNN’s Jake Tapper, who announced this week that he would be changing history and selling it. Tapper proudly launched the campaign for his new book, with co-author Alex Thompson, seemingly without an ounce of self-reflection or shame. The book?
An exposé on the cover-up of Joe Biden’s mental decline.
My husband has been nagging me to write a House of Cards-ish drama that explores the current chaos of this new political era. I have so far refused on the grounds that I couldn’t come close to dreaming up the insanity on display right now. The most creative among us could not come up with this level of delusion and outright deception.
Tapper’s astonishing lack of self-awareness blew up X.
The internet is forever but apparently Tapper is too GenX to understand that.
We haven’t forgotten how he ridiculed and shamed Lara Trump for her suggestion that Biden was mentally impaired and unable to execute the duties of his position. Let’s rewind all the way back to THE STUTTER DEFENSE. And keep in mind that Jake Tapper has been considered one of the premier “journalists” of his era.
Let’s roll the tape.
As far as I’ve been able to discern, Tapper has yet to offer an apology to Lara Trump or anyone he disparaged as cruel, bigoted or insane for pointing out the obvious.
I’ve not had a lot of love for Tapper, but I have had respect for him up to this point. I only ever had him pegged as a sycophant Democrat apologist, but not as a liar. This new book has put a decisive end to whatever vestiges of respect anyone ever had for Tapper.
But it’s more than that. Tapper’s book marks the final nail in the coffin of the mainstream, legacy press. Conservative Americans have known for years that the legacy media is hopelessly biased and corrupt. The broader spectrum of Americans began to see the questionable practices during Trump’s New York trial. That mugshot made a lot of people- people who previously had not been paying attention -think twice. At the very least, some eyebrows were raised.
By the time Trump and Vance made their way to the podcast circuit, the game had almost been fully exposed.
During the VP debate between J.D.Vance and Tim Walz, my 17-year-old daughter came into the room and watched for about one minute. As she stood to leave, I asked her, “Before you go, tell me what you think about the little you just saw of this debate. What’s your first impression?” I was curious how a non-political, uninterested party would view what she saw.
She told me, “I didn’t really get to see enough to have a real opinion. But I guess one thing that stands out is that J.D.Vance doesn’t seem as weird as the TikTok videos make him out to be.”
That was the moment I understood the entire game had changed. She was watching a televised debate and saying that. How many other people were seeing Vance and Trump on podcasts like Rogan and Theo Von and saying the same thing?
As it turned out, a lot.
The legacy media no longer set the narrative, and the results speak for themselves.
Back to Tapper.
There is nowhere for his antics to hide. Alternative media has been religiously chronicling the last five years (at least) and their viewership numbers dwarf anything Tapper could ever dream of achieving in his CNN perch. More people know the part he played in all of this than don’t.
It is a blatant lie of the highest order, made worse by the fact that he’s literally sold it for a handful of silver coins.
No matter. The jig is up. He got his money, but he sacrificed his respectability and reputation for it, and at the end of the day, that’s all any man really has.
Tapper is bankrupt and so is the legacy media. His new book jacket will serve as the program for their funeral. The pall bearers will be the American media consumers who have had enough of the elitists telling us not to believe our lying eyes.
RIP Jake Tapper and what we’ve been calling the “mainstream media” for years. It’s considered bad form to speak ill of the dead, so I’ll just say…
….ah, screw it. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

I'm not on X very much so I greatly appreciated the inclusion of those posts calling Tapper out as the gargantuan hypocrite that he is. Molly Hemingway -- too funny. What a loser he is!!! You are so right. RIP the Legacy Media (and I don't even wish them very much peace). I think I would change it to NCB Legacy Media. Never Come Back, Legacy Media. Never come back.
Kira, your writing is outstanding. Keep going.
