Newsom's new podcast has conservatives worried about platforming

California Governor Gavin Newsom finally created the kind of splash he’s been craving with the launch of his new podcast, This is Gavin.

During his disastrous leadership in the Los Angeles fires back in January, Newsom decided to combat the “misinformation” about his effectiveness by taking his message directly to the people. He chose the standard-bearer for liberal podcasting, Pod Save America.

It was a complete failure.

Newsom’s rehab attempt failed miserably, because of the optics and because of the weak platform. But the Governor gets points for figuring out an end-run against the conservative domination of new media. He’s launched his own podcast, This is Gavin, in which he brings the conservative influencers - and their audiences - to him.
