My son is graduating college in June. He was a high school COVID graduate…that is to say, he didn’t get a graduation. He spent the majority of his senior year working at a grocery store for that lucrative $25/hr COVID pay. When he finished that job, he went right to work in one of Chef Andrew Gruel’s kitchens. Then he went to school in Chicago, where he worked his way through classes by walking dogs and taking odd jobs around town.
What I mean to say is, we’ve raised a hard worker, a young man who understands his personal responsibility and the necessity to endure discomfort to get what you want. He’s no wimp.
